Kelly Hadfield roused the group by sharing her firsthand experience of the need for improvement in the region, and how while outrage at the unjust death of a friend started the project, it has taken perseverance to see it through the years. Chris Hadfield spoke about how his experience of seeing the Earth from space gave him perspective on the need for all people to work together, because when you can cross the continent of Africa in six minutes, you realize how small the world really is. His Excellency High Commissioner Dr. Sulley Gariba talked about how the GMH story touched him and his family, and revealed that both he and the Consul General John Bosco Dery-Kpebesani (also in attendance) are from the region of northern Ghana where GMH operates. Finally, Dr. Sharon Vorona from Figure 1 discussed the opportunities for the Figure 1 platform to enhance global health care initiatives, as exemplified through a live Q&A with Dr. Gudu that we put on in February.

The event was a great success for the organization, connecting leaders in the government sector, Ghanaian community, and the GMH family with a shared goal: to ensure that access to health care is available to all.
