Despite a very busy schedule, Col (Ret.) Chris Hadfield managed to volunteer a considerable amount of his valuable time this month to support Ghana Medical Help, and helped us to raise over $42,000 to go towards purchasing basic medical equipment needed in hospitals in northern Ghana.

Chris Hadfield Contributes His Time
Astronaut Col (Ret.) Chris Hadfield chose to contribute this holiday season to Ghana Medical Help to help improve the quality of basic medical care for over 2 million West Africans.
Chris Hadfield made the event a smashing success, and directly helped raise over $42,000.

Fire Hits Bongo District Hospital
An electrical fire at Bongo District Hospital has burned down the operating room and the equipment in it. We have reports that the makeshift theatre is now utilizing entirely GMH-donated equipment! Without these items, the hospital would have been completely unable to maintain surgical operations.

TEN THOUSAND additional patients were seen at Bongo District Hospital in 2012, and the death rate was cut in half.
